[email protected] (661) 257-5255 SANTA CLARITA – A Valencia carpenter vanished late Sunday night on his way home from a job in Lompoc and had not been heard of Monday, his distraught wife said. Daniel Lilienthal, 40, had spent the day renovating a rundown apartment complex and stayed late to collect rents for his boss. Lilienthal planned to meet an old friend in Oxnard on the homeward drive but overshot the off-ramp and headed for home instead, the friend said. “I have no idea, but I’m definitely worried,” said Justin Daly, 24, of Oxnard, who spoke to Lilienthal by phone shortly before 10 p.m. “I could feel he was tired, based on him making the wrong turns and him going on the freeway too far.” Lilienthal lost his way in Camarillo, Daly said. Lilienthal’s wife, Melinda Barrios, 48, was talking with her husband by phone about the same time as Daly – but the call died when his phone powered down. Lilienthal didn’t carry a phone charger and when he failed to show up by 12:30 a.m. she went searching for him, she said. last_img
