New trucks shown to Council

first_imgPhoto: Both the fire truck (left) and rescue truck have been acquired by the Fort St. John fire department to replace the aging trucks./Kimberley MolinaCity Council was given a sneak peek at two new fire trucks acquired by the Fort St. John fire department, Monday.- Advertisement -According to Fire Chief Fred Burrows, the trucks were a necessary acquirement since the other trucks were getting old.He says the new rescue truck can be used as a command centre and has strong enough lights to light up an accident or fire scene.As well, the other fire truck can hold nearly 10,000 litres of water which is significantly more than the older truck could hold.Simon Caughill, a firefighter with the department, says the new rescue truck can carry more equipment and more firefighters.Advertisement He added that it also has a compressed air foam system which can help in putting out vehicle fires, a feature the older truck didn’t have.Residents will be able to see the new trucks in the city’s Canada Day Parade.last_img
